This extended retrospective at the Stone also revives some projects which had very exciting and promising beginnings but have seen little activity since their initiation. In the back of my mind I have been curious to return to these configurations and explore their rich possibilities more. Also interesting is that both of these trio are the same instrumentation, reeds, piano and drums. There is another trio with this same configuration in my past, Thirteen Ways - with Fred Hersch and Michael Moore, but I was unable to have Michael Moore come this time round.
